In summary, on the basis of the most conservative estimates, it would appear reasonable to anticipate a threefold increase in the tonnage of fish landed from Omani waters. More realistic projections based on all available information from the region and on comparisons with areas of simil.ar productivity elsewhere are higher indicating a five-to ten-fold increase (to 500,000 - 1,000,000 tons) in annual yields may eventually be possible.
