This is a case study of the Arughat-Vishal Nagar Pipe Irrigation Project. Communal irrigation systems are an important part of national development because they make use of many smaller rivers and streams not tapped by national systems. Communal systems are cheaper to construct and maintain than national systems. They also further villagers social and economic development and create and strengthen local organization.
