The Shaba Refugee Water Supply Project was designed in September 1984 by USAID/Zaire in collaboration with the Association Internationale de Developpement Rural (AIDR), A Belgian private voluntary organization, and the National Rural Water Supply Agency (SNHR). The purpose of the project is to provide increased access to potable water in the Lualaba Sub-Region of Southwest Shaba through the provision of boreholes and renovated wells equipped with hand pumps, spring catchment systems, and piped water distribution systems.
