In May 1985, Zaire's National Action Committee for Water Supply and Sanitation (CNAEA) held a seminar at which representatives of the Government of Zaire (GOZ), donor organizations, and nongovernmental organizations discussed and revised Zaire's rural water supply plan. This report briefly describes the methodology used by a consultant from A.I.D.'s Water and Sanitation for Health (WASH) program in preparing the seminar, the seminar's achievements and lessons learned, and recommendations for similar assignments. The bulk of the report consists of appendixes in French and English providing, inter alia: seminar minutes; the proposal for WASH assistance with the CNAEA seminar; and policies and strategies adopted by the GOZ for rural water supply and sanitation.
