This report describes the assessment of USAID hand-operated pumps for shallow and deep wells. The multiple objectives for the evaluation is to 1) identify the most acceptable, dependable and easily maintained hand pump 2) promote use of prior USAID research 3) provide analysis of USAID design projects and 4) promote small industry development by working through local manufactures for hand pumps.
