The principal objective of the Government of Indonesia's (GOI) Sederhana (Simple) Irrigation Program is to rapidly increase rice production through expansion of both dependably irrigated and cultivable land. Secondary crops may also be grown in areas dependably irrigated as a result of the Program. The objective of the AID project is to support this Program nationwide through: 1) improving the institutional capability of GOI implementing agencies, and 2) financing a portion of the local currency cost to complete projects planned for FY 1976 and 1977.
