Describes the development of a hand-operated water pump suitable for use and manufacture in developing countries. The program had 2 phases: 1) a study to determine requirements imposed upon hand-operated water pumps to determine use patters and short-comings and 2) the design, construction, and evaluation of a production-model pump and formulation of a general plan for a production facility.
