The Government of Sri Lanka (GSL) has conducted extensive field, laboratory and office investigations of an irrigation project, approved the project after preparing a feasibility study, and is now in the process of final design and economic analysis. These will be completed by the end of the year. The Government of Sri Lanka (GSL) has requested AID to finance the foreign exchange costs of the scheme. This report is an appraisal of the technical aspects of the irrigation works, water management, land utilization, construction methods, costs and environmental factors.
