USAID evaluation team visited Burundi to examine the UNICEF rural water and sanitation project in the context of the priorities and resources of the country, donors, and USAID. Evaluation questions revolve around the viability of this project as a vehicle for coverage of the rural population with essential water supply, sanitation, and improved health status, and as a possible opening wedge for other forms of rural development, such as improving housing, buying and selling cooperatives, reforestation, road and footpath improvement, etc.
