In response to the humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa, Mercy Corps has been implementing the Emergency Response and Livelihood Recovery Program in Wajir District of Northeastern Kenya with support from the USAID Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance. The OFDA program was heavily invested in water provision through water trucking and fuel subsidies to mechanized water points as water access was the biggest threat to families in the region. Hence this reduced the level of intervention in economic recovery and market systems.
