An amendment to a fish culture expansion project. The roots of this project go back to World War II when the Belgians initiated an extensive effort to promote pond fish culture. This action, motivated by the need for increased production of food for consumption in Zaire, was notably successful in introducing the basic techniques of fish culture throughout the country. The rural Zairians, most of whom were traditionally disposed to hunting and fishing, readily accepted the concept.
