In Bainet, USAID/DART staff reported that Hurricane Gustav had destroyed 23 homes and damaged 236 others, according to the Mayor's office. Approximately 908 individuals are residing in temporary shelters in Bainet, according to the USAID/DART. ' USAID/DART staff noted damage to the infrastructure and agricultural sector in Bainet. According to the USAID/DART, damage to potable water systems was limited to broken pipes. The USAID/DART reported good sanitary conditions in two shelters visited.
