U.S. Agency for International Development
USAID/FFP is providing an additional $7million contribution that will enable USAID/FFP to meet 40% of the food requirements as set out in the U.N. flash appeal launched on 9/12. President Preval stated that infrastructure (bridges and transport) are key priorities. Water has begun to recede allowing people to return home. Water sources are reportedly contaminated and needs include safe drinking water, medicine, medical supplies, and vector control to mitigate malaria risk.
