The areas of emphasis for this program area: (1) Aquaculture, with emphasis on improvement of the efficiency of systems for production of low-priced fish, genetic stock improvement and waste recycling; (2) Traditional Fisheries, with emphasis on improving the status of small-scale fishermen through social and socioeconomic interventions; and (3) Resource Development and Management, with emphasis on improving methods for stock assessment in complex, multispecies tropical fisheries.
