The purpose was to provide core support for the maintenance and further development of Auburn's capability to promote utilization of aquaculture and to further the development of that capability in the war on poverty and hunger in the LDCs. Funds were to broaden discipline base as applied to aquaculture, maintain concentration on warm water aquaculture and inland fisheries with a total system competence within its focus, expand response capabilities in planning, and provide the production of specific outputs in education and training, expanding the knowledge base.
