Four papers on A.I.D.'s irrigation investment options and strategies for Asia are presented. The first two papers review, respectively, reports prepared by interdisciplinary study teams for Bangladesh, Northwest India, Pakistan, and Northeast Thailand and reports prepared by an Asia Bureau team during visits to India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, and Thailand. The third paper presents a preliminary analysis of the development and strategy issues facing A.I.D. in the irrigation sector, while the fourth identifies areas for action, analysis, and research regarding canal irrigation management in India.
