The best way to make the optimum use of low and erratic rainfall in the drought-prone areas is to adopt soil and moisture conservation measures on small watersheds. This approach is quite new for the personnel working in the drought-prone districts. A critical requirement for the success of water shed projects is the active involvement of the local people at every stage of watershed management.
