From its inception, the Oman Fisheries Development and Management Project (FDMP) has pursued the primary goal of sustainable growth and development of the fisheries industry in Oman by working to strengthen the technical, administrative and management skills of the Directorate General of Fisheries Resources. The development of a strong public sector management authority, together with appropriate incentives, will increase private sector confidence in the fishing industry, and encourage concomitant environmental sensitive private sector development.
