This publication covers the sociocultural aspects of implementing aquaculture systems in marine fishing communities. The purpose of this paper is twofold: First, to apply a generalized model of sociocultural factors influencing the diffusion of innovations to the problem of aquaculture development, and second, to examine sociocultural aspects of introducing aquaculture systems into communities adapted to small scale marine capture fishing.
