The University of Rhode Island/ USAID Coastal Resources Management Program (CRMP) convened a group to consider the opportunities and needs for training of existing and potential coastal resources managers in developing countries. The Training Issues Team, composed of 8 members, first met in August 1986. The team met regularly through December, first to discuss general principles of training and their specific application to CRM, then to design a training strategy and outline a proposed core course in integrated coastal resources management.
