This research is part of a series of expert opportunity analyses conducted by USDA in cooperation with the USAID Mission/Vietnam and the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture; other analyses studied South Vietnam's timber, agricultural crops, and livestock industries. The report which follows briefly summarizes the fisheries export demand phases of the overall study, and then analyzes, in depth, Vietnam's domestic fish demand situation, and it's fishery industry supply capability, cost structure, and profitability. A final section of the report includes recommendations for improvement in Vietnam's marketing system for fish products, and several observations about fisheries policies and institutions in the country.
