This report covers the development of irrigated agriculture in Niger. The trend of developing areas for irrigation remains slow both for meeting the population's food needs and in view of overall development possibilities which are of the order of 220,000 hectares. The total irrigated area is presently estimated at 5,800 hectares of which 4,800 are modern perimeters with total water control.
