This paper looks at the development of a swimming crab fishery in Ecuador. Since the 1950's, lesser developed countries have made increasing efforts to examine their fishery resources. Fishery development activities have multifaceted objectives but basically one overall goal: to improve the well-being of the people in the country through the utilization of their fishery resources.
