This paper looks at the psychocultural adaptation and the formation of fishermen's cooperatives in Ecuador. In most fisheries departments and development agencies around the world mariculture and marine capture fisheries are often lumped together in "the fishery sector," and the producers associated with the two activities are treated as if they are somehow the same despite the fact that aspects of the work involved are vastly different.
