Under the Irrigation Systems Management Project (ISMP) the procedure for developing the Preventative Maintenance Program (PMP) was outlined in the Project paper. This procedure is schematically shown and provides the guidelines for development of the PMP over the life of project. The project paper recommended that the PMP should be developed over the life of project and implemented after the project was completed in order to sustain the systems at a level of maintenance that they will not require major rehabilitation work in the future.
