In response to a request by the National Development Institute of Nicaragua (INFONAC), a fishery survey under the sponsorship of USAID/Nicaragua was conducted from February 28 to March 17, 1972, on Lake Nicaragua. The objectives of this survey were to assess the economic potential of the fishery resources and provide assistance in developing a realistic program of catch assessment, management, and extension for the fisheries program on Lake Nicaragua.
